- Zoom app not working on windows 10

When you are using your zoom to play a audio, open your Sound settings in Windows and check the volume mixer. Then you may find that the application for Zoom meeting is muted. Just unmute it, everything will be fine.

Just wanted to thank you again for posting this information. Even though I had autoupdate turned off for Zoom, a few weeks ago my Zoom sound output failed as before. Using the information which I posted below in response to your post, I was able to quickly find my way to the advanced audio settings and unmute Zoom to solve the problem. Odd that it failed in the first place. Is Zoom perhaps targeting what it perceives to be whiners within its community?

Remember, just because you aren't paranoid doesn't mean you aren't being followed. It was not trivially obvious how to "check the volume mixer".

When I scrolled to the bottom of the window, I saw:. So, which of the two Zoom entries need to be adjusted? More to the point, why are there two Zoom entries? Even more to the point, how do I remove the bogus entry so that there is no question which Zoom entry needs to be adjusted?

Put another way, why is it necessary to navigate to the Windows App volume and device preferences window to discover that Zoom sound is muted? It seems evident to me that the Zoom app has a dysfunctional relationship with Windows audio settings. Perhaps a technicist from Zoom can chime in on this thread to help all of us Zoom users on Windows get Windows audio settings for Zoom straightened out?

With the latest version installed, I am told that my machine does not support virtual backgrounds. The help page does not list W11 among supported operating systems!

Will that be corrected on the W11 release date? Go to Solution. I see that I am in good company! It is interesting that Microsoft Teams has no difficulty with using backgrounds on this machine but Zoom has still not learned how to do it! View solution in original post. Was this an upgrade - did the same machine previously have Windows 10 and work with Virtual Backgrounds?

Otherwise, does the computer itself meet the minimum system requirements for Virtual Backgrounds? With tongue in cheek I pointed out that Teams has no trouble at all in using backgrounds on my Windows 11 machine.

I suggested that the solution was to use Teams instead of Zoom, in the hope that the Zoom writers would spring into some sort of action. The forum lads have revised the log-in process, but there is still no hope on backgrounds! It is now December. I just updated windows to Windows 11, from Windows 10 - in Windows 10 Background ran perfectly. All of a sudden, today, after the update - ZOOM is telling me that my machine does not support background.

I am a paying zoom customer and now I cannot use background because of Zoom is not on it, and I have a presentation to do on the 21st of December. Great, Zoom. Now I think it's time I ask for a refund and move to a different video platform. This is BS. That's good information that it was working before. I had not tested that before updating a new machine to W So it might be that the only 'fix' that Zoom needs to make is in the condition for deploying the code that intelligently separates the presenter from the background.

Clicking 'I have a green screen' clearly disables that code, leaving a mixed clutter of background image and room features. So Zoom could cease to disable that feature just because a mix of hardware and OS does not match a particular recipe, instead just displaying a message that it is at the user's own risk. Do you know I how can down load Zoom to the new Windows 10 edge based search engine, the search engine will not let me down load zoom period, and I do not know how to find a workaround.

The official Windows 11 release date is October 5, - so you may not see any specific documentation until then. First I must point out a major fault in this forum. When I opened the notification there was no prompt to sign in, so I thought that that was automatic. I wrote a long, and I hope helpful reply, and submitted it. I was taken to the login page, logged in, and that reply was lost.

The installation was prompted by launching a session. The filename seemed cryptic, so I hoped that your linked installer would solve the problem. It did not. Members of the 'Windows Insider' scheme have been able to install W11 before the release date. This is a cunning way to iron out any final bugs, using the help of those curious to see what comes next.

Unless you have your new version that recognises W11 ready before that due date, there will be a clamour from those who have upgraded. Maybe you would like to post a link to it here for the community to test. Can you confirm that you computer meets the actual hardware requirements for Virtual Backgrounds. Can you confirm that Zoom is otherwise working on your computer, other than Virtual Backgrounds? I know at least one person running Zoom on Windows 11 - but I know they would not have been using Virtual Backgrounds.

The OS was updated from W10 within a couple of days of purchasing. I have not yet noticed any other problems, having used Zoom for several meetings in the last couple of days. I Wanted to know if it worked with the Pentium Gold as I'm looking to buy a laptop with this processor? My Laptop is a brand new one with the W11 update. Is just zoom, the one giving me the background issue. Other than that, works fine. Please, help us on this! I need to use the background for work.

Thank you Rupert. I too could not use the virtual backgrounds but I installed Zoom again using the link you provided for the 64 bit and now I am in Zoom virtual background la la land! Thank you so much for providing the link. I am still convinced that somewhere in the code is a table of acceptable operating systems - and W11 is not among them!

If there is a slash on the audio icon, it means that the audio is muted and you can unmute it by clicking the audio icon. It is convenient to use the Volume icon on the taskbar to change the sound volume. But this icon is missing from Win 10 taskbar. Therefore, try enabling the Join Audio option. Step 2: Look at the bottom-left corner and then click the Join Audio option.

Then, drag the slider to set the microphone volume to the max. After settings are applied as above, your microphone should be working fine. You can simply take a mic test on Zoom to check. If the issue persists, please move on to the next fix. One of the most common causes of Zoom microphone not working is an outdated or a faulty audio driver.

To keep your audio devices work in the tip-top condition, you should install the latest audio driver. Driver Easy will automatically recognize your system and find the correct drivers for your exact audio device, and your Windows version, and it will download and install them correctly:.

Driver Easy will then scan your computer and detect any problem drivers. Or click Update All to automatically download and install the correct version of all the drivers that are missing or out of date on your system. This requires the Pro version which comes with full support and a day money back guarantee. The up-to-date audio driver should make you use the microphone on Zoom without trouble.

You can adjust the settings as follows and see whether this brings back your audio input. Join a meeting to test if your microphone works on Zoom. If the mic-not-working problem remains, please check out the last fix. If none of the solutions above does the trick, you should consider reinstalling Zoom, as this will solve the underlying issues concerning the app itself.

Then, type appwiz. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation process. Then, download Zoom from the official website and install a fresh new app on your computer. Hopefully this post resolved your Zoom microphone not working on Windows 10 issue.
